Radiative ϕ\phi−-meson decays and η\eta-η′\eta^\prime mixing: a QCD sum rule analysis

The radiative transitions ϕ→ηγ\phi \to \eta \gamma and ϕ→η′γ\phi \to \eta^\prime \gamma are analysed using QCD sum-rules. The results we obtain for B(ϕ→ηγ)=(1.15±0.2)10−2{\cal B}(\phi \to \eta \gamma)=(1.15 \pm 0.2) 10^{-2} and B(ϕ→η′γ)=(1.18±0.4)10−4{\cal B}(\phi \to \eta^\prime \gamma)=(1.18 \pm 0.4) 10^{-4} are in very good agreement with existing experimental data. The related issue of η−η′\eta-\eta^\prime mixing is discussed and we give predictions for the η\eta and η′\eta^\prime decay constants in the framework of a mixing scheme in the quark-flavour basis.Comment: Latex, 15 pages, 3figures. Systems simulations supporting NASA telerobotics

    Get PDF
Two simulation and analysis environments have been developed to support telerobotics research at the Langley Research Center. One is a high-fidelity, nonreal-time, interactive model called ROBSIM, which combines user-generated models of workspace environment, robots, and loads into a working system and simulates the interaction among the system components. Models include user-specified actuator, sensor, and control parameters, as well as kinematic and dynamic characteristics. Kinematic, dynamic, and response analyses can be selected, with system configuration, task trajectories, and arm states displayed using computer graphics. The second environment is a real-time, manned Telerobotic Systems Simulation (TRSS) which uses the facilities of the Intelligent Systems Research Laboratory (ISRL). It utilizes a hierarchical structure of functionally distributed computers communicating over both parallel and high-speed serial data paths to enable studies of advanced telerobotic systems. Multiple processes perform motion planning, operator communications, forward and inverse kinematics, control/sensor fusion, and I/O processing while communicating via common memory. Both ROBSIM and TRSS, including their capability, status, and future plans are discussed. Also described is the architecture of ISRL and recent telerobotic system studies in ISRL

Finite temperature QED3 with light fermions

Non-compact QED3 is simulated both in the quenched and unquenched cases. In particular, we investigate the restoration of chiral symmetry at finite temperature. We also compute the zero temperature spectrum of the theory, including (in the quenched case) the dynamical fermion mass. From these two set of data, one can obtain estimates for the ratio of the mass gap to the critical temperature, of particular interest for applications to high-Tc superconductivity.Comment: talk given at lattice'92, 3 LaTeX pages (using espcrc.sty), figures available upon reques

A Rhetorical Analysis of the Preaching of Robert Lee Russell

    Get PDF
Robert Lee Russell\u27s pulpit oratory is analyzed through a review of the literature, personal interviews and critical study of three specific sermons. The consistency of idea content and effectiveness of the preaching is evaluated according to the concepts of rhetorical analysis delineated in Nilsen\u27s (1957) Interpretive Funnction of the Critic. Robert Russell\u27s concepts of man [existence], ideas [knowledge], and society [values] is examined through analysis of his sermons. The results of the analysis are compared to the literature on preaching, statements from interviews with him, and comments by leaders of his congregation. It is concluded that Russell is an effective preacher and the idea content of his sermons is consistent to the literature, his own philosophy and the expectations of his church

Abstract: The study evaluates the extent of online teaching among instructors at the selected universities in the Philippines. The study utilized 120 faculty members from the private and state universities in the Philippines. Participants of this study were classified according to gender, type of residence, number of years in teaching, highest educational attainment, and department. The researchers used quantitative and qualitative research designs. The quantitative research design utilized a Likert -type data instrument and statistical tools used were mean, t-test, and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The study was submitted and evaluated for its contents by the experts in the qualitative method. Moreover, qualitative data and information will be gathered through the interview to be conducted by the researchers themselves. The qualitative design process was guided by the qualitative and qualitative experts and was based on a qualitative framework by Creswell (2012). Results revealed that online teaching using JEL was "very high." The challenges derived from the qualitative views and statements experienced by the respondents were the following: (1) interrupted and unstable signal, (2) technical issues in the middle of using, (3) unpreparedness of the respondents as they shared that they need more training and hands-on, and (4) frequent maintenance of JEL

    Space spider crane

    Get PDF
A space spider crane for the movement, placement, and or assembly of various components on or in the vicinity of a space structure is described. As permanent space structures are utilized by the space program, a means will be required to transport cargo and perform various repair tasks. A space spider crane comprising a small central body with attached manipulators and legs fulfills this requirement. The manipulators may be equipped with constant pressure gripping end effectors or tools to accomplish various repair tasks. The legs are also equipped with constant pressure gripping end effectors to grip the space structure. Control of the space spider crane may be achieved either by computer software or a remotely situated human operator, who maintains visual contact via television cameras mounted on the space spider crane. One possible walking program consists of a parallel motion walking program whereby the small central body alternatively leans forward and backward relative to end effectors

    A Non-Perturbative Chiral Approach for Meson-Meson Interactions

    Get PDF
A non-perturbative method which combines constraints from chiral symmetry breaking and coupled channel unitarity is used to describe meson-meson interactions up to \sqrt{s}\lesssim 1.2 GeV, extending in this way the range of applicability of the information contained in Chiral Perturbation Theory (\chi PT), since this perturbative series is typically restricted to \sqrt{s}\lesssim 500 MeV. The approach uses the O(p^2) and O(p^4) \chiPT Lagrangians. The seven free parameters resulting from the O(p^4) Lagrangian are fitted to the experimental data. The approach makes use of the expansion of T^{-1} instead of the amplitude itself as done in \chiPT. The former expansion is suggested by analogy with the effective range approximation in Quantum Mechanics and it appears to be very useful. The results, in fact, are in good agreement with a vast amount of experimental analyses.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures, LaTeX, Talk given at PANIC99, Uppsala (Sweden), June 10-16, 199
